When Dharminder Hans and Rajvir Chahal celebrated becoming permanent residents in Australia in 2020, the young couple knew the time was right to buy their first home. And when a friend convinced them to have a look at Donnybrae, they were delighted to discover the perfect place to call home!
“We had only been looking for land for a couple of months when we visited Donnybrae,” Dharminder shares. “Our friend had just purchased land here and convinced us to come and have a look.”
“We had been considering Wollert, where we are currently renting a home, but the price of land at Donnybrae was just too good, especially when we added on the savings from the rebates that were available to us through the First Home Buyer. We saved thousands!”
With the land they purchased in December 2020 due to title in January 2022, it is highly likely the family will be among the first residents to move in to Donnybrae. However they are still trying to select the final design for their dream home.
“Choosing the land was the easy part!” Dharminder concedes.
But there is one very special consideration that is sure to have a very big influence on their final decision.
“We are expecting our first baby at the end of May,” Dharminder beams.
Having space to accommodate extended family when they visit from India is another important consideration.
“Our land is very close to the Donnybrae park, which will be perfect for Rajvir and our baby. I also love playing cricket with friends. We are really looking forward to enjoying this space.”
Access to the train station and the proposed primary school and other planned amenities in the local area were important assets when the pair were considering Donnybrae.
“It will be very different from my childhood in India,” Dharminder recalls. “I grew up in in a farmhouse in a very remote, rural area. We will be almost in the metro area of Melbourne. Our children will have more opportunities growing up here – they will be able to choose different occupations and job prospects and will enjoy more sports opportunities.”
“We have already met another two of our neighbours and it looks like it will be a friendly, multicultural community.”
Dharminder commends Liliana Fierro-Martinez, Donnybrae’s Sales Consultant, for ensuring purchasing the land was very easy.
“We just went to the Donnybrae office and looked at the masterplan with Liliana. She explained everything according to our needs and was so helpful.”
“Just like Donybrae was recommended to us, I am already trying to convince my friends to buy land here!”
